Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel extended congratulations on Monday to political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar following her recent victory in Trinidad and Tobago’s general elections, in a message shared via his official Telegram channel.

“We congratulate Kamla Persad-Bissessar on her triumph in the general elections held in Trinidad and Tobago,” stated the Cuban head of state.

Díaz-Canel also reaffirmed Havana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation with the Caribbean nation, a traditional partner and active member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Persad-Bissessar, who previously served as Prime Minister from 2010 to 2015, is the first woman to lead Trinidad and Tobago’s government. Her return to power signals a new chapter in regional politics amid renewed efforts toward Caribbean integration.
